Ingredients
Ground beef, 1 lb (85% lean)
Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp
Garlic powder, 1 tsp
Onion powder, 1 tsp
Smoked paprika, 1 tsp
Seasoned salt, 1 tsp
Liquid smoke (optional), 1 tsp
Cheddar cheese, 1/2 cup (1/2-inch cubes)
Burger buns, 4 to 5
Lettuce, 1/4 head
Tomato, 1 large (sliced)
Mayonnaise, 2 tbsp
Ketchup, 2 tbsp
Instructions
Form ground beef into 5 evenly sized patties with indentations in the center
Insert 1 heaping tsp of cheddar cheese into each indentation then reshape pat into round shape
Season patties liberally with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, seasoned salt, and liquid smoke
Heat skillet or grill to medium-high heat (375°F)
Cook burgers for 4-5 minutes per side until meat is done and cheese is melted
Toast buns lightly while burgers cook
Assemble burgers with lettuce, tomato, mayo, ketchup, and any additional toppings
Serve immediately
Notes
Cheddar cheese can be substituted with colby jack or gouda
For gluten-free version, use certified gluten-free Worcestershire sauce
Fresh garlic paste can replace garlic powder (1/2 tsp per tbsp dry)
Add 1 tbsp mustard for extra tang
Serve with apple slices or pickles for contrast
