Description

This decadent seasonal treat combines earthy pumpkin puree with rich, melted chocolate chips for a perfectly balanced fall dessert. Known for its dense, moist crumb and comforting aroma, this quick bread is easy to whip up using pantry staples. This recipe yields two loaves, making it ideal for sharing during the holidays or storing for later enjoyment.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 large eggs
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
15 oz canned pumpkin puree
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 cup whole milk
12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
Line the bottom of two 8.5 x 4.5 inch loaf pans with parchment paper and grease the sides.
In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and softened butter until fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and pumpkin puree.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Divide the batter equally into the prepared loaf pans.
Bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Substitute half of the granulated sugar with brown sugar for a deeper, molasses-like flavor. Ensure your baking powder is fresh to guarantee a proper rise. Using room temperature eggs and butter helps create a better emulsion for a tender crumb. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
