Description
Crispy golden mozzarella sticks with a melty center, perfect for game nights or gatherings. Coated in seasoned Panko and served with marinara.
Ingredients
1 lb fresh mozzarella cheese, cut into 15 sticks
2 large eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1½ cups Panko breadcrumbs
½ tsp Italian seasoning
½ tsp dried parsley
¼ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp black pepper
¼ tsp salt
2 cups vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
1. Set up three breading stations:
– First, place flour in a shallow dish.
– Second, beat eggs in a separate dish.
– Third, mix Panko, Italian seasoning, parsley, garlic powder, pepper, and salt in a third shallow dish.
2. Dip each mozzarella stick in flour, then eggs, then the Panko mixture. Shake off excess.
3. Arrange sticks on a wire rack over a baking sheet. Freeze for 1 hour to set the coating.
4. Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) in a saucepan. Fry 2 sticks at a time for 1 minute until golden. Drain on paper towels.
5. Serve warm with marinara sauce.
Notes
Substitute Panko with crushed cornflakes for a gluten-free option.
Freezing prevents the coating from falling off during frying.
Use high-smoke-point oil for frying.
Measure seasonings carefully to avoid oversalting.
