Description
Transform simple canned biscuits into delightful, bite-sized treats coated in a sweet, spiced caramelization. These gooey biscuit bites are surprisingly easy to make, perfect for any family gathering or spontaneous snack attack. They offer a delightful contrast of slightly crisp caramelized sugar exterior and a soft, fluffy interior.
Ingredients
20 ounces refrigerated canned biscuits (1 tube)
½ cup (1 stick) salted butter, melted
1 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or a muffin tin.
Empty the canned biscuits and cut each biscuit into quarters. If using grand-sized biscuits, they will yield larger bites.
Place the biscuit pieces into the prepared baking dish or muffin tin, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
Place the melted butter in a shallow bowl or pie plate.
In another shallow bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
Working in batches, dip each biscuit piece into the melted butter, ensuring it is fully coated, then dredge it in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Place the coated biscuit pieces into the prepared baking dish or muffin tin.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
For an extra caramelization, you can briefly broil the bites for 1-2 minutes, watching them very closely to prevent burning.
Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, you can use brown sugar in place of granulated sugar, but watch closely as it may caramelize faster.
If you prefer a less sweet coating, reduce the amount of sugar in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
These bites are best served warm and fresh.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
