Description
A sweet and tangy iced tea bursting with ripe peach flavor. Brewed with peach-infused simple syrup and bold black tea, this refreshing summer drink is perfect for backyard barbecues.
Ingredients
1 cup organic cane sugar
2 cups filtered water (1 for syrup, 1 for tea)
2 large ripe peaches, thinly sliced
2–3 Tbsp loose leaf black tea (or 3–4 standard tea bags)
Instructions
Combine sugar and 1 cup water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently
Add peach slices and crush fruit against the spoon until sugar dissolves (5-7 minutes)
Cover and refrigerate 25-30 minutes to infuse
Boil 8 cups water in a separate pot
Steep tea (loose-leaf or tea bags) in hot water for 4-5 minutes
Strain tea through a mesh sieve into a pitcher and refrigerate until chilled
Mix 1-2 cups peach syrup (to taste) with chilled tea and serve over crushed ice
Notes
Use fully ripe peaches for maximum flavor
Substitute 50% sugar with agave syrup for a lower glycemic option
3 small peaches work in place of 2 large
Sea salt enhances flavor – add a pinch to syrup if desired
