Description
A crispy, buttery French baguette infused with roasted garlic, herbs, and sea salt. Perfect as a side for soups, steaks, or cheese platters. Quick, easy, and endlessly customizable.
Ingredients
1 (60cm) French baguette
125g unsalted butter, softened
2 tsp fresh garlic (minced)
½ tsp kosher salt
2 tsp fresh parsley (chopped, optional)
Aluminum foil
Instructions
Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F)
Cut baguette in half lengthwise, then slice nearly through to 2cm thickness
In a bowl, combine butter, garlic, salt, and parsley. Taste and adjust seasoning
Spread garlic butter evenly over cut sides of bread
Brush tops and sides with remaining butter
Wrap each bread half in foil and bake for 15 minutes. Unwrap, place on a baking sheet, and bake 3-5 minutes until golden and crisp
Notes
Use room-temperature butter for smooth spreading
Substitute ciabatta/sourdough for the baguette; use gluten-free bread if needed
Replace parsley with oregano or thyme
Use vegan butter for a dairy-free version
Freeze wrapped in 2 foil layers for up to 1 month
Avoid using salted butter without adjusting recipe salt
do not skip the final unwrapped baking step for crispiness
