Description
This refreshing homemade iced tea combines the crisp, tart essence of fresh gala or fuji apples with the warm, aromatic depth of cinnamon. By macerating fresh fruit directly in the glass and balancing the blend with a splash of apple cider vinegar and lemon, this caffeine-boosted beverage offers a sophisticated flavor profile. It is the perfect cooling drink for warm afternoons, prepared quickly with simple, natural ingredients without the need for artificial sweeteners.
Ingredients
1/4 cup fresh apple pieces (gala or fuji)
1 teaspoon cinnamon (ground or crushed stick)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1–2 black tea bags
Filtered water as needed
Ice cubes as needed
Instructions
Place the quartered apple pieces into the bottom of a heat-safe iced tea glass.
Mash the apples thoroughly using a muddler or the back of a sturdy spoon until a pulp-like consistency is reached.
Add the cinnamon into the apple mash and stir to integrate.
Incorporate the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar, stirring again to combine.
Place the black tea bags directly into the glass over the apple mixture.
Pour near-boiling water into the glass, ensuring the tea bags are completely submerged.
Steep the tea for 5 to 10 minutes based on desired strength.
Remove the tea bags, strain the liquid to discard fruit solids, and top off the glass with fresh ice.
Notes
For the best flavor extraction, ensure the fruit is mashed into a fine pulp consistency. Use high-quality filtered water to ensure the cleanest tea base. For a variation, try adding a light drizzle of honey if extra sweetness is desired.
