Description

This vibrant, homemade beverage combines the sweetness of fresh summer berries with the sharp, crisp tang of freshly squeezed lemons. By utilizing a cooked blueberry syrup, this drink achieves a consistently smooth, professional texture and a deep, natural color that makes it the ultimate thirst-quencher for hot afternoons and outdoor gatherings. It is a perfectly balanced, refreshing treat for guests of all ages.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 cup Imperial Sugar Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
1 cup fresh blueberries
3/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
6 cups water (divided: 1 cup for syrup, 5 for final drink)

Instructions

Combine sugar and 1 cup of water in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Stir continuously until the sugar is fully dissolved.
Add blueberries and bring to a gentle boil.
Reduce heat to low and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until berries burst and release juices.
Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a heat-safe bowl, discarding solids.
Allow the syrup to cool completely.
In a pitcher, combine the cooled blueberry syrup, the remaining 5 cups of water, and the fresh lemon juice.
Stir well and serve over crushed ice.

Notes

Use Meyer lemons for a slightly sweeter finish. Ensure the syrup is cooled completely before mixing to prevent ice from melting too quickly. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
