Ingredients
3 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp granulated white sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
0.5 tsp ground nutmeg
2 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and chopped
1 tbsp cornstarch
3 count 6-inch flour tortillas
1/4 cup water (plus extra for slurry)
1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
Preheat your kitchen oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine brown sugar, white sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, nutmeg, water, and lemon juice in a large saucepan.
Stir in the prepared apple pieces until evenly coated.
Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat.
Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until apples are tender.
Whisk the cornstarch with a splash of water to make a slurry in a small bowl.
Remove 1/4 cup of the apple cooking liquid and whisk it into the slurry to avoid lumps.
Stir the slurry mixture back into the saucepan.
Simmer for 4 to 5 minutes until the sauce is glossy and thickened.
Slice flour tortillas into wedges, brush lightly with water or oil, and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon and sugar.
Bake the chips on a tray at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 5-8 minutes until crisp.
Notes
Ensure apples are finely chopped for better dipping consistency. Store cooled dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove or microwave before serving.
