Description
Caramelized, tender country-style ribs made in an air fryer for a quick weeknight dinner. These fall-apart meaty ribs use a smoky dry rub and BBQ glaze for crusty edges and rich flavor, with no pork or alcohol. Ready in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
1.5 pounds lamb shoulder cubes (halal alternative to pork ribs)
1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
½ cup halal BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce (halal version)
Instructions
Preheat air fryer to 370°F (185°C). Lightly oil the basket to prevent sticking.
In a bowl, mix lamb with smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
Place lamb in air fryer, arranging in a single layer. Cook for 18 minutes, flipping halfway.
Brush with ¼ cup halal BBQ sauce and soy sauce evenly over both sides.
Return to air fryer for 5-10 minutes until glaze is caramelized.
Notes
Use lamb shoulder for trim fat while maintaining rich flavor
For maximum tenderness, do not skip preheating the air fryer
Adjust cayenne to taste preferences
For a non-halal version, use beef brisket instead of lamb
Save time by using store-bought BBQ sauce (check for halal certification)
