Ingredients
4 small/medium apples (Gala, Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Granny Smith recommended)
1½ tsp ground cinnamon, separated
1 T canola oil (or vegetable oil)
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 T unsalted butter, melted
2 T granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
Instructions
1. Wash and core the apples.
2. Slice the apples into 1/2-inch thick wedges or rings.
3. In a medium bowl, toss the apple slices with canola oil, 1 tsp of cinnamon, and vanilla extract until evenly coated.
4. Transfer the apple slices in a single layer to the air fryer basket.
5. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8-12 minutes, or until tender, shaking the basket halfway through.
6. While the apples are cooking, melt the butter in a small bowl.
7. In another small bowl, mix the remaining ½ tsp cinnamon with the sugar.
8. Once the apples are cooked, remove them from the air fryer basket and place them in a serving bowl.
9. Drizzle the melted butter over the warm apples, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
10. Gently toss to combine and serve immediately.
Notes
Gala apples are recommended for their balance of sweetness and firmness, but other varieties like Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Granny Smith will also work. If using firmer apples like Granny Smith, you might need to increase the cooking time slightly.
To substitute brown sugar for granulated sugar, simply use 2 tablespoons of packed brown sugar for a deeper caramel flavor.
Ensure the apples are in a single layer in the air fryer basket for even cooking. If necessary, cook in batches.
