Description

This Strawberry Spinach Salad is a fresh, vibrant, and healthy dish featuring sweet strawberries, tender spinach, and crunchy almonds tossed in a tangy sesame-poppy seed dressing. Perfect for summer gatherings or light meals, it’s quick to prepare, nutritious, and full of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 quart strawberries – cleaned, hulled, and sliced
  • 10 ounces fresh spinach – rinsed, dried, and torn into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup almonds – blanched and slivered
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together sugar, olive oil, vinegar, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, onion, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
  2. Cover and refrigerate the dressing for 1 hour to allow the flavors to blend.
  3. In a large bowl, combine sliced strawberries, torn spinach, and almonds.
  4. Pour the chilled dressing over the salad just before serving.
  5. Toss lightly to coat all ingredients evenly.
  6. Refrigerate for 10–15 minutes before serving for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Prepare the dressing in advance for easier serving.
  • Toast the almonds for extra crunch and flavor.
  • Keep the dressing separate until ready to serve to prevent wilting.
  • For a vegan version, replace Worcestershire sauce with soy sauce or tamari.
