Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups sliced strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup water
- Milk (whole, 2%, or plant-based)
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Combine strawberries, sugar, and water in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens slightly and the strawberries soften.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, pressing the berries to extract all the syrup.
- Discard solids and chill the syrup completely in the refrigerator.
- Pour 3/4 cup of milk into a glass and stir in 3–4 tablespoons of strawberry syrup (adjust to taste).
- Top with whipped cream if desired, and serve cold.
Notes
- Frozen strawberries work just as well as fresh ones.
- Store leftover syrup in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Adjust sugar to taste if your strawberries are very sweet or tart.
- For a dairy-free version, use almond, oat, or soy milk.
