Description
These old-fashioned peanut butter cookies are crisp on the outside with a soft, chewy center. With classic fork marks and rich peanut flavor, they’re a nostalgic treat that’s easy to make in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ¼ cups creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup salted butter, room temperature
- 1 ¼ cups light brown sugar, packed
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
- In a large bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to beat the peanut butter and butter until smooth.
- Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar and beat until fluffy.
- Mix in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda. Gradually add to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
- Scoop dough into 2-tablespoon-sized balls and place 3 inches apart on baking sheets.
- Use a fork to gently press a crisscross pattern onto the tops of the cookie dough balls.
- Bake for 12–13 minutes or until the tops are golden and no longer glossy.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use room temperature butter for easier mixing and better texture.
- Don’t overbake — cookies continue to bake on the sheet after removal.
- Fork marks help flatten the cookies for even baking.
- For added texture, mix in peanut butter chips or chopped peanuts.
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
