Description

These old-fashioned peanut butter cookies are crisp on the outside with a soft, chewy center. With classic fork marks and rich peanut flavor, they’re a nostalgic treat that’s easy to make in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¼ cups creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup salted butter, room temperature
  • 1 ¼ cups light brown sugar, packed
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. In a large bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to beat the peanut butter and butter until smooth.
  3. Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar and beat until fluffy.
  4. Mix in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda. Gradually add to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
  6. Scoop dough into 2-tablespoon-sized balls and place 3 inches apart on baking sheets.
  7. Use a fork to gently press a crisscross pattern onto the tops of the cookie dough balls.
  8. Bake for 12–13 minutes or until the tops are golden and no longer glossy.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use room temperature butter for easier mixing and better texture.
  • Don’t overbake — cookies continue to bake on the sheet after removal.
  • Fork marks help flatten the cookies for even baking.
  • For added texture, mix in peanut butter chips or chopped peanuts.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
