Description

These Maple Pecan Breakfast Scones are soft, buttery, and filled with crunchy pecans and creamy white chocolate chips, then finished with a rich maple glaze. Quick to make and perfect for cozy mornings or a brunch treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/3 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 cup Quick Cooking Oats
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Pecans
  • 1/2 cup White Chocolate Chips
  • 1/3 cup Cold Butter
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/3 cup Pure Maple Syrup
  • 2 Tbsp Milk (for brushing)
  • 1 tsp Granulated Sugar (for topping)
  • 1 cup Powdered Confectioners Sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 Tbsp Milk (for glaze)
  • 1 tsp Maple Extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease a cookie sheet.
  2. In a stand mixer, combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, oats, pecans, and white chocolate chips.
  3. Cut the cold butter into small pieces and mix into the dry ingredients on low speed until crumbly.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk, then add to the flour mixture along with maple syrup. Mix until a dough forms.
  5. Using a large scoop, place rounded mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Do not flatten.
  6. Brush the tops and sides with 2 tablespoons of milk and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  7. Bake for 13–15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from oven and transfer scones to a cooling rack with wax paper underneath.
  9. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and maple extract until smooth.
  10. Drizzle glaze over the cooled scones and serve.

Notes

  • Use quick oats for the best texture; rolled oats may result in a chewier scone.
  • Freeze unbaked scones and bake from frozen with slightly longer baking time.
  • Let scones cool before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting off.
  • Skip or reduce glaze for a less sweet version.
