- 8 oz Mushrooms (button or cremini): Add earthy flavor and meaty texture
- 1 Yellow Onion (diced): Adds sweetness and aromatic depth
- 2 Garlic Cloves (minced): Enhances savory flavor
- 2 cups Beef Broth: Forms the rich, flavorful sauce base
- 1 cup Sour Cream: Adds creaminess and tang
- 2 tbsp All-Purpose Flour: Thickens the sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce: Adds umami and boosts beefy flavor
- Salt & Black Pepper (to taste): Essential seasoning
- Fresh Parsley (optional, for garnish): Adds freshness and color
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it up, until fully browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Add diced onion and sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes until softened and lightly browned. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
- Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture and stir to coat. Gradually pour in beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Reduce heat to low. Stir in sour cream until smooth and creamy.
- Add cooked noodles to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce evenly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef (85% lean) to avoid excess grease.
- For a lighter version, substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt.
- Gluten-free noodles can be used for a gluten-free option.
- Brown the mushrooms well to maximize their flavor.
- Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
