Soft and spiced Eggnog Cookies that melt in your mouth, featuring the classic holiday flavors of creamy eggnog, cinnamon, and nutmeg, finished with a festive eggnog glaze. Perfect for Christmas cookie swaps or cozy winter gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour (270g)
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature (170g)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup eggnog
  • For the glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp eggnog
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl or stand mixer, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggnog, vanilla, and egg yolks one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients on low speed until just combined. Scrape the bowl as needed.
  6. Using a cookie scoop, portion out about 2 tablespoons of dough for each cookie and place on baking sheets, leaving 4 inches between each.
  7. Bake for 11–12 minutes or until edges are set and the centers look dry.
  8. Cool cookies on the baking tray for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. While cooling, prepare the glaze by whisking powdered sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, eggnog, and vanilla together until smooth and drizzle consistency.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over cooled cookies and allow to set before serving.

Notes

  • No chill time is needed, but you can chill the dough if making ahead.
  • Measure flour accurately for best texture.
  • Keep cookie sizes consistent for even baking.
  • For added flavor, mix a bit of rum or rum extract into the dough.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze unglazed cookies for longer storage.
