A classic Southern dessert with a buttery cinnamon crust and juicy peaches. Layers of sweet peaches and golden crumb bake to perfect comfort food
Ingredients
1 cup Challenge Butter (½ cup for batter + 1 stick for topping)
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
4 cups chopped fresh peaches
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish
Mix flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, and ½ cup melted butter
Pour half the batter into prepared dish
Pour milk over the batter layer
Sprinkle peaches, lemon juice, and cinnamon over milk
Add remaining batter in clumps to cover peaches
Dot with remaining butter
Notes
Challenge Butter can be substituted with halal-certified or vegan butter
Use whole wheat flour for denser texture
Non-dairy milk works well
Fresh peaches can be replaced with thawed frozen peaches
Top can be sprinkled with turbinado sugar for extra crunch
