Ingredients
Scale
- 10 oz mozzarella string cheese (or 10 sticks)
- 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- Cayenne pepper (optional)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Cut the string cheese sticks into bite-sized pieces (4–5 per stick).
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
- Set up two additional bowls: one with flour and one with bread crumbs. Mix cayenne pepper into bread crumbs if using.
- Dip each cheese piece first in flour, then in the egg mixture, and finally coat in bread crumbs. Place coated bites on a plate.
- Heat vegetable oil (about 2 inches deep) in a skillet to 350°F.
- Fry 5–7 bites at a time for about 30 seconds until golden brown. Avoid overcrowding.
- Remove fried bites with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Repeat until all bites are fried.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or enjoy as-is.
Notes
- For extra crunch, double coat each cheese bite.
- Keep cheese cold before breading to prevent premature melting.
- Fry in small batches to maintain oil temperature.
- Try different cheeses like cheddar or Monterey Jack for variety.
- These bites can be air-fried at 375°F for 6–8 minutes.
