Description

Churro Cheesecake is a fusion dessert that combines the crispy, cinnamon-sugar crust of a churro with the rich, creamy filling of classic cheesecake. Made with crescent roll dough and a simple cream cheese mixture, this easy recipe is perfect for gatherings, potlucks, or a sweet make-ahead treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon: provides warm, classic churro flavor
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar: sweetens the cinnamon sugar coating
  • Two 8-ounce packages refrigerated crescent roll dough or sheets: forms the churro-like crust
  • 16 ounces full-fat cream cheese, softened: creates a creamy cheesecake filling
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar: sweetens the cheesecake layer
  • 1 large egg: binds and enriches the filling
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract: adds flavor depth to the cheesecake
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled: brushed on top to help the sugar caramelize

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and sprinkle 1–2 tablespoons of cinnamon sugar over the bottom.
  2. In a small bowl, mix ground cinnamon and 1/2 cup sugar to create the cinnamon sugar. Set aside.
  3. Unroll one tube of crescent roll dough and press seams together to create a solid sheet. Lay it in the bottom of the prepared pan.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, 3/4 cup sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Spread evenly over the dough layer.
  5. Unroll the second tube of dough, press seams together, and carefully place it on top of the cheesecake layer.
  6. Brush the melted butter evenly over the top layer of dough using a spoon or pastry brush.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar evenly over the buttered top layer.
  8. Bake for 26–30 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled to room temperature, refrigerate for at least 3 hours to set before slicing into bars.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese is fully softened before mixing for a smooth filling.
  • Press seams of crescent dough tightly to prevent gaps during baking.
  • Chill for a minimum of 3 hours for clean slicing and optimal texture.
  • Can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight.
  • Wrap individual bars well and freeze for up to 3 months.
