Description

These Christmas Monster Cookies are the ultimate festive treat — soft and chewy with crisp edges, loaded with oats, pretzels, chocolate chunks, white chocolate chips, and colorful red and green M&M’s. They’re easy to make, no chilling required, and perfect for gifting, cookie boxes, or cozy holiday baking nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter: adds richness and creates chewy edges
  • 1 cup brown sugar: provides moisture and depth of flavor
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar: balances sweetness and crisp texture
  • 2 large eggs + 1 egg yolk: adds structure and richness
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract: enhances flavor
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour: gives the cookies structure
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda: helps cookies rise
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder: balances texture and lift
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt: balances sweetness
  • 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats: adds chewiness and hearty texture
  • 1 cup red and green M&M’s: festive color and chocolate flavor
  • 1 cup pretzel twists, roughly crushed: adds crunch and saltiness
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chunks: melty chocolate flavor
  • 3/4 cup white chocolate chips: creamy sweetness

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla until creamy and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs and extra yolk one at a time, mixing until smooth.
  4. Mix in flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in oats, 1 cup of M&M’s, crushed pretzels, chocolate chunks, and white chocolate chips.
  6. Roll dough into 1/4 cup-sized balls and place them 3 inches apart on prepared sheets.
  7. Bake for 8 minutes, rotate pan, then bake an additional 2 minutes. Press remaining M&M’s on top of cookies and bake 2–3 more minutes until golden.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for several minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Enjoy warm or store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Omit the extra egg yolk for thicker cookies with less spreading.
  • Press extra M&M’s on top mid-bake for a festive finish.
  • Do not overbake — cookies will continue to cook as they cool.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for 3 months.
  • To keep cookies soft, place a slice of bread in the container.
