Ingredients
Scale
- 12 cherries, halved and pitted
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Soda water, for serving
Instructions
- Cut the cherries in half and remove the pits.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine cherries, water, sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Bring to a simmer and let bubble for about 5 minutes.
- Mash the cherries using a potato masher or similar tool.
- Continue simmering for an additional 10 minutes to reduce and infuse the syrup.
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool for 15 minutes.
- Strain the syrup using a fine mesh sieve into a jar or bottle.
- To serve, add 4–6 teaspoons of syrup to a glass with ice, top with soda water, stir gently, and enjoy.
Notes
- Adjust syrup amount based on sweetness preference.
