Description
This homemade Chai Tea Latte recipe delivers the perfect balance of spiced black tea, creamy milk, and gentle sweetness. Easy to make, this comforting drink captures the cozy flavor of your favorite coffeehouse latte in just minutes at home.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 chai tea bag: black tea base infused with spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves
- 1/4 cup filtered water: for brewing a strong tea concentrate
- 2 teaspoons granulated sugar: adds sweetness to balance the spice
- 3/4 cup milk (any type): provides creaminess and froths beautifully
- Cinnamon (optional): for topping and extra aroma
Instructions
- In a small pot, bring 1/4 cup of filtered water to a boil. Pour into a mug and steep the chai tea bag for 5 minutes.
- Remove the tea bag and stir in the sugar until fully dissolved.
- While the tea steeps, heat 3/4 cup of milk in the same pot over medium heat until it begins to steam (do not boil).
- Whisk the milk vigorously or use a milk frother to create foam.
- Pour most of the milk into the chai concentrate, stir gently, then top with the remaining foam.
- Sprinkle cinnamon on top if desired and enjoy immediately.
Notes
- If you prefer a less sweet drink, start with 1 teaspoon of sugar and adjust to taste.
- Use whole milk for a richer latte or oat milk for a dairy-free version.
- To make an iced version, cool the chai concentrate and serve it over ice with cold milk.
- A handheld milk frother creates perfect foam and enhances texture.
